Awesome sounds!

You sir are one dirty mothertucker! The drums need some more punch to them but it may just be my headphones, the wobble is very very dirty and pretty awesome! You gotta tell me how you made the wobble so gritty! Sounds quality, keep up the good work! You've inspired me to be a lot harsher on the bass :D

SessileNomad responds:

distortion mostly is what i used to make the bass grimey, some detuneing with the oscillators

Pretty special!

Haven't heard the original but must say this is quite something! When the vocals came in sounded pretty awesome! The progression of the song is pretty cool and the synth are used well. Quick question, how did you make that effect at 1:07, the sort of swooshing one..?

Keep up the good work :)

Awesome stuff!!

You pretty much nailed the wobble bass! Sounds awesome dude! Nice melodies and use of accompaniment instruments plus a pretty decent drum pattern aswell, although you could tweak it at parts, perhaps dropping the hi hat at some point then re-introducing it? Anyway keep up the good work and let me know when the finished version is out!

mr-jazzman responds:

Sure will man, although it will probably be a while! Thanks for the review, and I'll get back to your PM in a bit. Also, thanks for the suggestions!

Some great potential

Im going to be quick with this review because my electricity keeps cutting out,, great track with a lot of potential, the synth is very cool and the vocals add a nice sense of variety, however you must must master/EQ the track properly, the synth instrument, the bassy one, needs to be a lot grittier (the side chaining one), use this to drive your song forward rather than have it kinda laying dormant in the background, also not too sure about the way the song starts but it seems to fit nicely when the drop/new section comes in at 35 seconds or so.

Keep up the good work =)

System17 responds:

Thanks a ton for the review Jewelz. I completely agree with you. I just changed to Ableton 8 from 6 so the quality should be getting better with my chaining since I don't have to use a bunch of 3rd party compressors, but I have a long ways to go. I do have another song I just posted that I made with 8.

I just need to start looking for some tutorials for managing levels of each track. Thanks again for the review!

Good stuff

The effects give it a very funky robotic feel, sounds pretty cool! The chord progression is cool aswell however gets a tad predictable after a while, you need to add a breakdown section where there is no drum pattern, this will give a lot more power to the others section where the drum pattern is present. As with trance music, its about the breakdowns followed by the awesome drops that give it that awesomeness, if you drop the drums at :55 ish and give it some sort of reverb where the instruments before kinda merge out and the new synth is introduced, then slowly bring them back in, leading to around 1:36ish where you could place your drop and add in the drums etc.

Just a thought :)

Keep up the good work!

Mayvix responds:

you know i like that idea. I've felt it need improvement. something to make it not so predictable. Sadly the Session is buried in a mountain of other session
from FL 5 once we dig it up we'll play around with that idea i think.

Sounds cool

Sound pretty cool dude and the lyrics sound all right aswell, I do have some pointers for you:

- Mess around with note velocities/volumes to make them sound more realistic
- Vary up the melody/chord progression at some point to spicen it up and add some key shifts
- Back the snare roll up with a nice drum pattern
- Variety variety variety, add some different instruments as it does get rather repetitive!

Apart from that, nice work. If you want me to review some of your other stuff, lemme know =)

iband48 responds:

Thank you for the review, and honesty.

I always do find myself struggling internally when submitting something. I always know there is so much more that I can do, but I usually find that if I don't get an outside opinion first I just end up making it a big mess.

I've been playing around with stacking melodies a bit more lately, but thank you for pointing that out.

As for the number of instruments, I normally would have tried to expand on it a bit more, but for this song in particular whenever I started getting closer to a full orchestra sound, it lost of a bit of eerie quality that I liked so much.

Again, thank you for the time and honesty you've given.

Almost there

This is a great piece, I can almost imagine what you have described in the description, a very pure sounding piece. One pointer which you should perhaps incorporate is to add some piano trills(?) dunno if i described that right, basically what i mean is where two or three notes are played in quick succession making it sound very skillful. Add this in and you will complete the fantasy/cosmic feeling. Great stuff! Keep up the good work.

RyanAvx responds:

Thank you very much :D I shall keep changing this if people come up with suggestion for it :D

Wow!

All round, this is a pretty solid compoisition. The way you transition your effects and blend in the sound effects is pretty amazing dude! You must teach me how to reach such a powerlevel! :P

The bassline and melody was on the whole pretty decent, the melody did sound repetitive however that is probably because it has repeated a few times over whilst I was writing this review. The cymbal at :15 sounded a bit out of place, apart from that I can't really hear much wrong with it, maybe add a vocal line/sample at some point?

Could very well imagine this being played in a club, you've got some talent! Keep up the good work.

djInTheDark responds:

Haha, you heard a melody in there? I didn't know I made one. ;) I haven't really thought up anything in particular yet for that. This was kind of a revisit of a very very very old track I did, and I may revert and redo that original melody, but probably not.

It sounds like a cymbal, doesn't it? Its actually a little white noise brush if you listen very closely. I just mainly have it there to give people a centralization of the beat (since its in 6/8 and not 4/4). But either way it does really need to go, I might change it out for something completely different, but I'm not sure yet.

I was planning on doing a vocal or two for this one but I haven't found anything that fits yet. i may just do a vocal mix and splice something up. Who knows...

Thanx a lot for the in-depth review!

Ooooo sounds pretty live!

I'm digging this! The vocals fit in nicely, didn't see them coming but they fit perfectly, the song is full of life and energy! Good use of synth and nice chord progressions + a pretty cool break down followed by the build up, nice stuff!

Sounds cool

I like the melody that comes in later, sounds funky, you could expand on it, and create a bigger track out of it. Also, if you add some wobble to the bass at parts, it will pimp it up nicely. Nice, simple loop :)

Chomposaur responds:

always looking for suggestions, and i'll definatly try that out when im done withmy current stuff.

Back in the flow of things!
