I think this fits the theme nicely. Great use of synth and the arps + filters give it that feel of late night street racing game with an empty road and a lot of Nitrous! Sounds a bit like Tekken aswell :)

My criticisms:
- The beat could use a low pass filter at some point just to add variation to it in the later parts.
- The strings could go faster towards the end. I forget the word but the style that someone plays when they pluck the strings very fast on a violin and that way can play fast melodies. I think that'd add to the speed element of the piece.
- Could add more effects? Subtle sound effects here and there can make or break a piece but if the right sounds are placed it could enhance the overall complexity of the track and give a bit of variation.
- Emphasis a bit more on the bass. Clear out any low frequencies and have only the bass section there so it produces a nice clean sound.

Again, all these criticisms are just my thoughts and I hope they helped.

Thanks for the feedback! Much needed, since I'm still very much a beginner at electronic music. I think I'll go back and do a better version/mix of this with your thoughts in mind!

I must say I'm utterly at loss with regards to what violin technique you're talking about, though. Just fast arpeggios? "Plucking" would normally be pizzicato, but it's cumbersome to do very fast at all.

Again a great piece. Very positive feel to it with an element of adventure. Your knowledge of classical composition is very good! Where did you learn to make pieces like this?

The only thing I can pick out which you could adjust slightly is the reverb. I feel there is a slight bit too much and toning it down a bit might result in a better sound. Again, this is probably to do with my personal preferences but you could always try and see how it sounds :)

descara responds:

Thanks! I study classical (well, contemporary really) composition, but stuff like this was something I picked up before that by simply listening to and analysing a crapload of classical music :)

And don't worry - you're spot on with the reverb. Sadly, what you hear here is just the natural room 'verb on the samples, tried to EQ some of it away but it didn't really work. Might redo this with some less reverby samples!

Nicely done.

I like it mate! The melodies have a great feel to them and a certain amount of depth which complements the track nicely :) The drop is fairly heavy hitting, flows along nicely.

Tips:
1) Turn up the piano in the later parts of the song
2) Fade the wobbles out around 3:11 so we get to hear the brittleness of that wicked piano
3) Bring the voices back into it later on :]

Quarl responds:

nice advice. ill play with it some more for sure!

Darkness mixed with fear, I LIKE IT

Good job, the drop is sexy! I felt the darkness at the beginning and you topped it off with the argh reinforcing that fear/darkness present in the track! Nice job.

Tips:
1) Turn up your snares or add another snare ontop with a slight reverb, its gotta have more of a snap to it, well it doesn't have to, but it could work nicely :)
2) ALSO WHAT IS THAT MELODY AT THE END??? Man, you gotta do something with that! If not send it my way and i'll turn it into something! :P
3) Bit of reverb on the instrument at the beginning but add it as the track progresses so its very subtle, would add more depth to the track
4) Vary up the beat a little more at the first drop, so its 1 1 then beat 2 beat 3 or something, just a bit of variety so llike instead of 1 kick then snare have 2 kicks then snare

Hope the advice above helps a bit ^^

ET16 responds:

Thanks for the tip....

Yarp!

Very nice, I like this! Keep up the good work.

Tips:
1) Fade in instruments e.g. 0:26, maybe add a filter to it, then have it come out more and more towards the drop to build it
2) When he says huh, drop any snares and background sound, maybe keep the melody but the build up snares have to be dropped, try it and see how it sounds!
3) Make it longer? :P

E-o-e responds:

Cheer for the feedback! Sorry the reply is a little late, and I will try that :L

Dark and gritty, nice!

Ye I like it mate, the effects are nicely done and the track feels good!

Just a few pointers:
1) Add a cymbal on the drop to add more emphasis to it, doesn't have to be over the top loud
2) Add more power to the drop, you could even layer your bassy instrument with other bassy instruments, just experiment a bit and you can get a much fuller, fatter sound!
3) Add some melodies to the intro?

ScionForge responds:

Thank you very much :P

Yeah i got that really evil vibe in there i love it ahaha

that was my first attempt at using a bitcrusher so i didnt change the levels or anything at all, if i spend more time on it thats what i'll do :P

Pretty wild!

Haven't heard something quite like this before! Pretty nuts stuff man :D I like it!! The song has a very fast pace to it, the drums are pretty cool and vary a lot, the wobbles are pretty nasty and the melodies do change here and there so good job on that!

What you need to work on a bit is the structuring of the track, perhaps have a few more buildups in there somewhere, the volumes of the hi hats need to be lowered, they are too loud when the first drop kicks in, in dubstep the wobble is always the forefront of everything, or so i find, so turn up the volume of the wobbles or emphasise the power on them and it will add a lot more depth to the track! Heck even vary it, have some bits with a less powerful wobble than others.

All in all a cool track, good luck in the competition mate and keep up the good work! :)

superuberinsaneausm responds:

thanks for the advice, i was on line about the volumes of everything and was pretty indecisive on the volumes of things. probably because i was compressing everything. i think when i have more time ill go over the whole thing and master it with the advice u gave me. thanks once again.

Fucking hell mate! :D

This is great! The drop is so much fuller now than before! The drums are very nice too! The wobbles are the highlight, so awesome!! People are going to love this track :) The first drop was simply o_O the way it came in and just tears shit apart! Damn man! Great work! :D

Send me the version you want on youtube! :)

Keep up the good work mate! 5/5 10000000/10

mr-jazzman responds:

Haha thanks broski, glad you liked it! =) I'll send you this track ASAP (more vids = more views = more exposure ;) )

Ye man! I'm digging this!! :)

Great piano melody, nice and varies! Gets better and better as it goes!! However, its laking a bit of passion, the emotion is there but the passion and the flare is needed! Vary the velocities of the notes to make it sound like a real piano! You must must do this!! Can't stress how much difference it creates with a piano songs passion!!

Where to go from here you say? Well maybe have a solid drum beat come in with the piano re-introduced + a bass..? Or perhaps some sort of guitar with a drum beat accompanying the piano?

Keep up the good work! Really nice!

DjRin responds:

Yeah bro I know what you mean, I'm gettin' better at making a more organic piano song

Maybe... I'll just make a new song and smash em together. or something

but thanks for the feedback :) cool to see like a year n some later I'm gettin feedback!

I like it! :)

Sounds like something for some sort of mystery RPG type game! Pretty cool! Its very simple yet works really nicely, the melodies are very nice and give it that feeling that you wanna press start and play the game already! The composition and progression of the track is nice aswell, its got the similar theme repeating throughout yet it doesnt sound repetitive! Good stuff! I think you've hit your description very well, would work very nicely for a RPG game main menu! Has a sort of japanese old school playstation vibe to it!

There are many more elements and themes you could try and explore with the track if you wanted to move out of the main menu zone but it does fit the theme well and sounds pretty nice! :)

Good stuff!

forjuden responds:

Thanks for leaving a review Jewlez I really enjoy your work as well. Almost all of them are great! I have a few on my favorites as you know :D

Back in the flow of things!
